DHRUV KAPOOR AW22 – “SOUL TECH II” – Milano Fashion Week
Dhruv Kapoor new collection AW22 was shown at the Milano Fashion Week. Soul Tech, is a growing subculture, devoid of a beginning or an end. Its eternal nature comes to the forefront with the advancement of technology, exploration of buried secrets of ancient civilizations, and a deep dive within. It explores our flexible reality-a complex network of events onto which we project sequences of the past, present, and future.
The “source” is a big mass of energy.
A part breaks away from this mass and becomes “us”.
We move through life with the ultimate goal of reuniting with “source”.
At our core, we are light beings having a human experience connected to our bodies and each other.
We are one.
Dhruv Kapoor Autumn/Winter22 plays with a squared silhouette cinched with cross-over belts made using upcycled leather. Bold, scaled-up patterns and embroideries crafted by skilled Indian artisans run throughout the collection. Poster print series, reminiscent of the 1970s-explores other-worldly concepts and advanced capabilities of the human mind – “Back to Source” – our reunion with source and “Soul Talk” that sheds light on telepathy-the unspoken and unwritten language of the “soul”.
Nature and science come together in hand-embroidered geometric florals and skewed wallpaper patterns that appear in eclectic colors and a mix of materials. A combination of textiles-old and new, upcycled and custom-made are mixed to birth a new direction-a combination of maximal and minimal. Logoskin suits and tones of digital violet relate to the explosion of the metaverse and alien technology, grounded by the dreadlock scarves and hats-significant wisdom.
As we march into the new age, we discover new ways of relating to the world around us, our community, and the world within us.
We are all energy.
